Dion Whitehead Amago is a software developer at Autodesk. Dion joined the Bio/Nano/Programmable Matter (BNPM) group to work on Project Cyborg in 2014. He joined because the group had the longest name that no one understood. His areas of expertise include bioinformatics, mobile game engineering, and nodding and waving his arms enthusiastically.
Before coming to Autodesk, Dion did doctoral and post-doc work in Bielefeld and Münster, Germany, in understanding how gene networks evolve and work, using theoretical approaches and analyzing large micro-array data sets. He also developed a taste for German board games, bread, and beer. From there he did a right turn into making online games at Three Rings Design, then mobile games at Idle Games. He doesn't quite know how that transition happened.
In his spare time, Dion is spending time with his kids, exploring the hiking area, writing games, biking, playing board games, and reading sci-fi. In other words, Dion's hobbies are indistinguishable from most other people's in the Bay Area.
