Autodesk Research, in collaboration with the Autodesk Consumer Group, is pleased to announce the release of Meshmixer 3.0. This release adds a major new multi-material design capability to Meshmixer, in the form of what we call "Complex" objects. A Complex is a single object that contains a decomposition into discrete multi-material regions. You can design a Complex without having to track an assembly of separate parts, and then split it up when you are ready to Print. We have made it easy to author Complex objects by adding a tool that automatically infers the multi-material decomposition based on markup of the surface.
Meshmixer 3.0 also adds the Unwrap tool, for flattening 3D surface patches. You can export the flattened patches as SVG files that you can send to a printer or laser cutter.
